Course Information
Description Introduction to the theory and practice of hair cutting. Topics include terminology, implements, sectioning and finishing techniques.
Prerequisites Completion of CSME 1401
Learning Outcomes 1. Choose the proper degree for a haircut (PSLO#2) measured by Chapter 16 unit exam.
2. Display proper practice for sanitizing implements used for haircutting (PSLO#2) measured by student skill sheet.
3. Demonstrates proper use of haircutting implements (PSLO#3) measured by student skill sheet.
4. Practice how to properly section for a haircut (PSLO#3) measured by student skill sheet.
5. Perform the three basic haircuts (PSLO#3) measured by student skill sheet.
6. Recognize haircutting terminology (PSLO#4) measured by Pre and Post test.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades you must come to my office in person.
Attendance Policy Attendance Policy

Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.

Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily.

Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face)

Class Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 (Please arrive 15 minutes early to be screened before clocking in; Washing/Sanitizing Hands, Temperature Checked Daily, and submit Screening Form)

Lunch: 11:00 – 11:30 or 11:30 – 12:00

Afternoon Break: 1:30 – 1:45 Lab/Face to Face Time: 2 days a week for a total of 12 hours. Online Theory / Lab: At least 22 hours a week. (Theory, Assignments, Video Lectures, Hands on Related Videos) Total hours for the week: 34 hours

· Consult with your instructor in advance if you know you will be absent, any days missed must be made up online through Blackboard, Microsoft Teams (Video Discussions), Quizlet/Quizlet Live etc.

· Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations (TDLR) mandates documentation is available for the State Inspector showing attendance, theory and practical skills for online and face to face.

· Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations mandates the completion and passing of all the registered modules (courses) to be eligible to take the state board exam.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
